VARIOUS DIETS AND TREATMENTS – THE ORIGIN OF WATER’S THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS (INTRODUCTION)
Not every kind of water has the same electric field, nor does it have the same therapeutic effect. The result depends upon the ‘ballast’ substances contained in the water, such as clay or black mud, which are responsible for the electric charge. Minerals dissolved in the water can also add medicinal properties. These substances are usually picked up by the water as it flows from its source deep in the earth and on its way passes over mineral deposits. It is these substances that account for the remedial effects of water when used for bathing and drinking. Any colouring matter, which we at first consider to be impurities or dirt, will have been added to the spring water as it flowed over deposits of clay and minerals. Thus the therapeutic value, as well as the content of minerals and its energy or power, is produced in a natural way, and that is of importance to us.
When I was visiting the South Sea islands I had similar opportunities to see the natives bathe in dirty, muddy waters. But please do not misunderstand my meaning, for I am not referring here to dirt resulting from the unhygienic environment I also saw there — human excrement or pollutants, or bacteriological dirt from other sources that can be channelled into the water. I am not talking about this kind of real pollution, but rather the natural process of earth and minerals being absorbed by the water, changing its clear colour. Naturally, coloured water is not necessarily unsuitable for bathing, although one has to be extra careful in the tropics because of the abundance of parasites that pollute the streams. Just think of the dangerous schistosomes, liver flukes and micro-organisms galore, which transmit all kinds of dangerous diseases.
